Mineral, Washington Murders, another cold case?
If you follow me on Medium then you know that I have been around the crime block a few thousand times. However, the Tube Sock Killings has not once crossed my desk.
“How did this series of murders get it’s name?” you may be wondering. It was because two of the victims were found with tube socks tied around their throats.
The case
Near the remote community of Mineral, Washington, bodies of campers and a dog were discovered in 1985. Most were shot to death, including the dog, and were uncovered by hikers in the area or police.
The victims were allegedly killed within a four month time span and were found within Lewis and Pierce counties located near Mineral.
The first victims
Steven Harkins(27) and his girlfriend Ruth Cooper(42) left their home in Tacoma, Washington on August 10th, 1985, for a weekend of camping. The pair was visiting Tule Lake in Pierce Country but when they did not return to their trade school on Monday, their families reported them missing.
