Three women strangled to death in the streets of New York by Francisco Acevedo.
Francisco Acevedo had anger issues, as most people who strangle others do. Born September 2nd, 1968, this American serial killer was found guilty of strangling three women to death between 1989 and 1996. However, he wasn’t caught until 2009 when DNA testing connected him to the killings.
Acevedo gave his DNA willingly after he was caught drunk driving while on parole.
What was his life like?
Acevedo grew up in Meriden, Connecticut and was one of three children to Yadira Acevedo. His mom and dad got a divorce when he was 14 years old and he decided to live with his father.
Acevedo started using substances when he was 12 years old according to a court report written during his trial. He used and abused alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine.
Not surprisingly, he dropped out of school during his freshman year and worked a series of odd jobs such as a cook, dishwasher, and at the popular coffee chain Dunkin Donuts.
He moved to Mount Vernon, New York, and in the 1990s, he met a women who he would marry while working at the New Way Kitchen. They were married shortly after meeting and had two sons together. While Acevedo may not have been successful by society standards, he lived a seemingly normal life.
His crimes and sentences.
Before he killed anyway, Acevedo picked up a women in his work truck on July 3rd, 1986. He drove the women to an isolated area where he tied her hands and blindfolded her. He sexually assaulted her and fell asleep. The women was able to flee as he slept. Thankfully, he was caught for his and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Except he was released early in June of 1988.
While still on the lose in 1997, he assaulted his wife and was charged with third-degree assault on November 11th. However, the chargers were dropped mostly because spousal abuse was not taken seriously at that time.
Acevedo was arrested again for abusing his wife on August 30th, 1998 after being released from prison. He supposedly punched her in the faced and broke her nose. He was sentenced to nine months for this misdemeanor offense.
