The Murder of best friends Phree Morrow and Martha Leach

I have heard from fellow crime bloggers that they often don’t share stories involving horrific acts against children because it is so awful and uncomfortable to read. I was like them for a time as well, I totally get it.

However, their stories are just as important to be shared even if they are difficult for us to read.

Phree Morrow(12) and Martha Leach(11) were molested, raped, and murdered by a group of men lead by William K. Sapp. Unfortunately, since both of the victims are deceased, large portions of the story are based on the murderer’s testimony.

Here is what we know about their last day on earth.

August 22nd, 1992

On this day, Morrow and Leach spent time playing together and hanging out near thier homes in Springfield, Ohio. They were best friends who spent a lot of their free time together.

At around 5:00p.m., Leach asked her mother, Jettie Whitt, if the pair could go to a bakery called Shuler’s. Trusting her daughter and the safety of the community, her mother said yes.
