Sometimes we could all use a more light-hearted crime story. I hope that I can provide a little fun to you with the story of a man in his 20s who may have taken a dare too far.
Even though this blog is short, I hope it puts a smile on your face.
Gary Rough isn’t a very convincing robber
28-year-old Gary Rough may not have been the brightest bulb in the bunch, but he was creative. Gary needed money and so he decided to do what everyone does when they need money- they rob people (I’m joking, obviously). Gary didn’t want to spend the money he did have to buy a weapon to rob a store though, or maybe he didn’t have the money, but he needed to at least look like he had a weapon.
But he had an idea.
Before entering a bookmaker’s shop in Glasgow on December 18th, 2013, Gary put a cucumber in a black sock. He entered the Ladbrokes bookmaker shop in Shettleston where he pointed his cucumber at a very shocked female employee.
The woman working was named Andrea McIntosh and she later told authorities that she assumed the robber had a gun. Still, she refused to give him any money.
